Victorian Cherry Launch

The Victorian Cherry Launch kicked off at the Queen Victorian Market, Melbourne on Friday 22 November and was a huge success.

Cherry Pip Competition

We had 48 keen contestants taking part. Those who were too shy to take part got into  the spirit of the competition and cheered on the others.

Contestants achieving the top 10 pip distances went into the final.

Heats - the longest distance was by Ben Clancy at 11.75 metres

Finals - the longest distance was also by Ben Clancy at 10.97 metres.

  • 1st Prize was a $749 Cherry Red Artisan KitchenAid MIxer (much sought after!)
  • 2nd Prize was a gift wrapped 5kg box of cherries
  • 3rd Prize was a double pass to a Queen Victoria Market Insider Tour valued at $80

Spit Or Miss Game

This was delivered an hour into the launch due to difficulty getting a vehicle to deliver 4 metre long rolled up game. However members of the public from school students to seniors were keen to have a go at hitting the target with their cherry pips in return for a small cup of cherries and a board game.

Tastings

We used 6 x 5kg boxes of cherries for tastings and supplying contestants with cups of cherries.

This was a fun day enjoyed by all !
