VICTORIAN CHERRY ASSOCIATION — MEDIA POLICY
Victorian Cherry Association (VCA) and its members to present co-ordinated, consistent and accurate comment to the media so that a positive public profile of the VCA itself, the industry and its produce are maintained at all times.
The Chairperson of the Committee of Management is the official spokesperson of the VCA and the Executive Office is the Chairperson's delegate.
VCA media releases may only be made through the VCA office once authorized by the Chairperson or the Executive Officer.Committee of Management Members may make media comment in consultation with the Chairperson.
All members are requested to refer media requests for interview to the VCA office (P: 03 5825 3700).Members are requested to avoid making media comment; however from time to time this may be unavoidable.
If any comment is made, that may be reported by a member, the VCA will appreciate being advised that it has occurred.Members are alerted that some media deliberately seek bad news stories and then do not provide balance in their reporting.
Anyone speaking to media should be very conscious that "gloom and doom" stories can have far reaching and damaging consequences for the industry.
If approached in such circumstances it may be appropriate to decline an interview.
Discussion shortages and price should be avoided.
No third parties should be named without their prior permission.
